ECOWAS Should Call Nigeria to Order on Its Border Closure - Oppong Nkrumah


The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has made a requesst to the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to intervene in the border closure by Nigeria Government as the decision is affecting and  hurting traders in the sub-region and it is clearly against the principles of ECOWAS.

He cautioned that closure of the borders like this have a way of negatively affecting the West African Economic Integration project.

He added that both Ghana and Nigeria’s cabinet are meant to meet between November 8 and 9, 2019 at the next ECOWAS summit to further discuss the issue.

While representatives of both the Ghanaian and Nigerian governments will today, Monday, November 4, 2019, meet to discuss reopening Nigeria’s border to Ghanaian traders.
